Faith and Film Discussion: Pan’s Labyrinth (2006)

Join us on Friday, October 20 at 6:30pm for dinner as we watch and discuss Pan’s Labyrinth.

In 1944 Spain young Ofelia (Ivana Baquero) and her ailing mother (Ariadna Gil) arrive at the post of her mother’s new husband (Sergi López), a sadistic army officer who is trying to quell a guerrilla uprising. While exploring an ancient maze, Ofelia encounters a faun, who tells her that she is a legendary lost princess and must complete three dangerous tasks in order to claim immortality.

Dinner is potluck style, with a Mexican food theme.  Childcare is available, and the children will watch Coraline and have their own discussion following their viewing.

Note:  Pan’s Labyrinth is rated R for graphic violence, language, and themes.  While it is not for everyone, the film depicts the brutal horror of war.  It is a dark fantasy film, Spanish language with English subtitles.
