Music is one of the primary ways in
which we worship, love and serve our Lord. We strive to offer a rich, relevant program
that engages the congregation in worship and creates opportunities to
share the wealth of artistic talents in our community. Music, together with the
Word, provides a genuine opportunity to encounter the holy.
The Chancel Choir, under the direction of Dr. Harold Daugherty,
consists of both volunteer and professional singers and sings at Sunday worship services (September
through June) and at special liturgies each year, including Christmas Eve and
Maundy Thursday in Holy Week. The choir
also presents special Sunday afternoon concerts at Christmas and in the Spring,
often accompanied by instrumentalists. The
Chancel Choir rehearses Wednesday evenings at 7:30. In addition to playing at all choral worship services and
concerts, our fine organist, Joseph Klice, also
conducts the children’s choir, which sings at worship services throughout
the year and for special events. The
Choraleers rehearse after the worship service on Sundays. New singers are
welcome and encouraged to participate.
Our repertoire features the finest
sacred organ, choral, vocal and instrumental art music from many periods and
Christian traditions, including contemporary music from around the world. Our
choices are diverse and broad, reflecting our eclectic community even as they
honor the rich traditions and heritage of this historic church.
