The Christian Outreach Board supports and extends the benevolence activities and public engagement of the church.
Medical Ministry in Haiti
After the devastating earthquake in 2010, our congregation made a special offering for the relief programs in Haiti. Subsequently, we began support of a specific medical mission run by Dr. Steve James and his wife Nancy James, a registered nurse.
Food Collection for Friends in Deed (Pasadena)
Our continuing food drive provides important provisions for the Friends in Deed food pantry in Pasadena. Friends in Deed (formerly ECPAC, the Ecumenical Council of Pasadena Area Congregations) also operates other programs including a women’s shelter and a bad weather shelter.
Stepping Stone Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facility (San Diego)
Our congregation donates clothing and toiletries for clients at the Stepping Stone facility in San Diego.
Prompted by a member of the Valencia United Methodist Church, our participation in prison ministry was initiated by LCCC member Becky Patterson. Becky along with other members of the congregation regularly visit inmate Kami Owens at the California Institute for Women in Chino, California. Kami lives in a faith-based unit of the prison and would love to hear from anyone who would like to correspond with her. Her address:
